Electronics Engineering Technology, B.S.

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Undergraduate Degree Programs

The Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology prepares students to work in a range of practical electronics fields, from circuit analysis and digital design to control and robotics. The program provides a foundation in electronics technology with an emphasis on laboratory work. Topics covered include circuit design and simulation, network analysis and synthesis, transmission lines, micro-system design and fiber-optic communications. All students will complete a capstone course in which they propose, design, build, test and deliver a working electronic project.

The B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering Technology is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria.

Program Educational Objectives

Within three to five years of graduation, graduates will

  • be successfully employed in the field of electronics engineering technology or related fields, or will be successfully pursuing a graduate degree.
  • have obtained a deep knowledge of the complex electronic equipment and systems for which they are responsible in their careers.
  • be effective communicators, productive team members, or leaders in a variety of engineering technology roles.
  • demonstrate a high level of integrity, positive work ethic, and thorough understanding of the ethical obligations and implications associated with the practice of electronics engineering technology.

Student Outcomes

Upon graduation, graduates will be able to

  • apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  • design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  • apply written, oral and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environment and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;
  • conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes related to electronic systems; and
  • function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
