The Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering enables students to become a professional in the multidisciplinary field. The program provides instruction and hands-on experience with mechanical systems, electronics, systems engineering and automation. Students study engineering mechanics, kinematics, fluid mechanics, instrumentation, circuit analysis, safety and power systems engineering. Graduates have the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, combine different systems to develop a solution for a real-world problem, or design and build an integrated system.
Program Educational Objectives
The program aims to prepare graduates to:
- demonstrate expertise in mechatronics engineering, applying their knowledge to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions in various industries.
- engage in lifelong learning and professional development to stay current with technological advancements and industry trends.
- exhibit leadership and teamwork skills, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals.
- uphold high ethical standards and consider the societal, environmental, and global impacts of their engineering solutions.
- innovate and engage in entrepreneurial activities, leveraging their mechatronics expertise to develop new products and technologies.
Student Outcomes
Upon graduation, students will have demonstrated an ability to:
- identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics, particularly in the context of mechatronics systems.
- apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors, specifically incorporating mechatronics systems.
- communicate effectively with a range of audiences, including those in the field of mechatronics.
- recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts, with a focus on mechatronics systems.
- function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives, especially in multidisciplinary projects involving mechatronics.
- develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions, particularly in relation to mechatronics systems.
- acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies, with an emphasis on advancements in mechatronics.
