Systems Engineering, M.Res.

Location(s): Research Based (European Model)

Systems Engineering is an important area of study that focuses on systems management from start to finish. Systems Engineers work to develop integrated systems and manage them through their lifecycle - whether it be an electrical network in construction, a bio-database for scientific studies, flight navigation communications, or the online infrastructure of a computerized system. Companies need front-end and back-end engineers to create, manage, and secure these complex and information-rich systems. Students of this discipline will learn the organizational skills, management skills, and technical skills necessary to become a leader in the field and an asset to any employer. And with Capitol Tech’s unique resources, partnerships, and proximity to the nation’s technology hub of Washington, D.C. and the DMV, prospective students will find many internships and job opportunities available to them.

The M.Res. in Systems Engineering program is structured for those with experience, or established professionals, in the Engineering field with an appropriate degree. During the program, students will conduct original research in an approved area of Systems Engineering.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon program completion, graduates will be able to:

  • Develop effective research proposals using appropriate methodologies and designs in an ethical manner.

  • Incorporate the theoretical basis and practical applications of systems engineering into related problem solving and task accomplishment.

  • Execute a research project to successfully complete and defend a significant piece of scholarly work in systems engineering.

  • Demonstrate effective oral and writing skills in professional communications.
