CRI 800 - Critical Infrastructure Nervous System

6 Semester Credit Hour(s)

The student will focus on the study of Critical Infrastructure within the context of technology and related political, social and cultural aspects of security. The focus is on the systems and facilities which have become the nervous system of modern cities and nations and whose disruption can trigger dramatic crises. Not only external threats (such as natural disasters, terrorist attacks and cyberattacks) are threatening the 16 sectors of Critical Infrastructure, but also the growing complexity and interconnectedness of the systems. The student will analyze, evaluate, and integrate alternate, divergent, and contradictory perspectives and solutions to protect Critical Infrastructure. The student will also explore the interdependence of multiple spatial and temporal relationships that exist within and between sectors.
