This course examines the concepts and principles involved in organizing and managing safety performance within an organization. The integration of company-wide safety programs/policies/procedures, safety performance metrics, and the importance of management support. Key elements of a safety management system and the associated systems, processes and procedures used in achieving high safety standards in organization are discussed with an emphasis on the importance of critical thinking with regard to the implementation of safety management systems in the construction industry. ANSI Z10 and ISO 45001 will be used as the framework for these discussions. *Course offered in 8-week asynchronous online format.
